Text Size
Pinch-to-zoom is disabled on mobile because it causes a browser crash on some devices. Use the controls below to increase text size instead.
Our Commitment
Sapphic Book Bingo is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for everyone and strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.
Current Accessibility Features
- Keyboard navigation: Core actions — signing in, submitting books, and navigating the sidebar — are accessible via keyboard.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Scalable text: The interface respects browser font-size settings and scales responsively. A built-in text size control is available in this Accessibility panel.
- Focus indicators: Interactive elements display visible focus outlines for keyboard users.
- Semantic HTML: We use appropriate heading structures, labels, and landmark elements to support screen readers.
- Alt text: Book cover images include descriptive alt attributes where available.
- Responsive design: The layout adapts to a range of screen sizes, including mobile devices.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas are still being improved:
- Pinch-to-zoom is disabled on mobile devices because it causes a browser crash. Use the Text Size control above as an alternative.
- The bingo grid's interactive tiles may not be fully optimized for all screen reader announcements. We are actively working on enhanced ARIA labeling.
- Some dynamic content updates (such as tile assignments) may not be announced immediately by all assistive technologies.
- The book cover images sourced from third-party services may not always have meaningful alt text available.
Assistive Technologies
The Service has been tested with the following assistive technologies:
- VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
- NVDA with Chrome on Windows
- JAWS with Chrome and Firefox on Windows
- TalkBack on Android
Standards We Follow
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

Our Story
Sapphic Book Bingo was born from a love of queer literature and the joy of community reading challenges. What started as a small reading group tradition has grown into a platform for sapphic and queer book lovers everywhere to discover new favorites, track their reading journeys, and celebrate the authors who tell our stories.
What We Do
We make it easy and fun to explore sapphic and queer books through structured reading challenges. Our bingo card format encourages readers to step outside their comfort zones — trying new tropes, discovering debut authors, and celebrating hidden gems that deserve more attention.
Every book in our library has been curated with care. We spotlight both established favorites and under-the-radar titles that capture the full breadth and joy of sapphic fiction across every genre, from cozy contemporary romance to sweeping historical epics to speculative fiction.
Community First
This platform exists because of readers like you. Our book submissions feature lets community members recommend titles they love, ensuring our library grows organically and reflects the tastes of the community it serves. Every suggestion is reviewed by our team before being added to the challenge.
Our Values
We believe representation matters. We are committed to centering sapphic, queer, and trans voices — both in the books we feature and in how we build this community. We strive to be inclusive, welcoming, and affirming for readers of all backgrounds.
About Jae
We proudly feature a dedicated section for books by author Jae, one of the most beloved voices in sapphic fiction. Jae's books span a wide range of genres and have introduced countless readers to sapphic romance and fiction.
